LA Golf has announced another exciting collaboration with Bryson DeChambeau to develop a driver, set to release in 2025. While details are scarce, LA Golf has teased that this will be "the first ever driver where the face and shaft fit your swing."
The partnership between Bryson and LA Golf dates back to 2018, when they first announced a player partnership allowing Bryson to fully customize his shafts from scratch. This unique relationship has flourished over the years, resulting in notable milestones. For instance, Bryson suggested that CEO and founder Reed Dickens purchase Sik Golf Putters, which he did. This move was followed by the release of an entire collection of shafts named the Bryson Collection. LA Golf is focused on disrupting the golf equipment industry, expanding its portfolio from shafts to putters to balls, and now, to drivers.
Bryson has always marched to the beat of his own drum. Known for his vocal opinions about equipment and critical views on manufacturers, he made headlines at the 2021 Open Championship saying his driver "Sucks"!
Bryson has attributed his recent success to his equipment. He won the 2024 US Open using Krank drivers and woods and 3D printed Avoda custom irons. Given the opportunity to design and create his own equipment, it’s no surprise that Bryson is now moving forward to create his own driver. The partnership between Bryson and LA Golf is unique - both are innovators in their own right, consistently challenging the status quo and pushing the boundaries of the industry.
If you’ve never heard of LA Golf, their Instagram reel will give you a taste of their brand:
In one word, LA Golf is "sexy." Their approach to branding and marketing sets them apart from traditional OEMs. They exude a vibe and aesthetic of wealth, using supermodels in their ads and even launching a signature shaft series with Paige Spiranac. This bold branding strategy has distinguished them in a crowded market of incumbent golf brands.
The visionary behind LA Golf, Reed Dickens, has a knack for disruption. Before founding LA Golf, he was the CEO and founder of Marucci Sports, a leading baseball equipment manufacturer known for bats and gloves. Under his leadership, Marucci Sports became the most used brand in the MLB, dethroning the iconic Louisville Slugger. Dickens saw a similar opportunity in the golf equipment industry, which he believed was stagnant and ripe for innovation.
In 2018, Dickens acquired the inventory and assets of Matrix Shafts and rebranded them as LA Golf. He started by innovating shafts, then moved on to putters and golf balls. Now, the logical next step is drivers.
As LA Golf prepares to launch their first driver in 2025, co-designed by Bryson DeChambeau and Jeff Meyer, the anticipation is palpable. Bryson DeChambeau expressed his excitement, saying, "It's time to make your mishits go straight. I am so fired up to be able to share the most innovative driver ever made with all golfers in 2025!" LA Golf CEO Reed Dickens echoed this enthusiasm, stating, "Bryson came to me with a big idea that he said would change the game of golf. We went all-in on this concept and the result is a game changer for golfers chasing the holy grail of gaining distance while decreasing dispersion."
With such high expectations, the market is eager to see how this driver will be received. Will it live up to the hype and redefine the standards for golf equipment? Only time will tell. Stay tuned for the latest industry updates with Goflstix Clubhouse.
